Have a berry good time

Just before writing this week’s column, my husband and I shared some of the last home-grown blackberries of the season.

Even though there are many recipes for creating delicious blackberry desserts, syrups, preserves and meals, my favorite way to eat fresh blackberries is to well, just eat them. Maybe rinse them off a little, but that’s it.

So, every summer, I must confess that I usually don’t get very far with using the berries as an ingredient in a recipe. I am that way with English peas, too.
