After allowing an early goal, the Madera South Stallions girls soccer team battled before scoring a second half goal to forge a 1-1 tie with the Golden Valley-Merced Cougars at Madera South.
Ximena Talavera scored the equalizer midway through the second half and that sparked Madera South, but couldn’t find the back of the net Tuesday.
“We always get intimidated when we played a good team. Last year, we were down 3-0 to them and tied 6-6. Today, they were coming with a mentality that they were pretty good,” head coach Ramon Delgadillo said. “We started making adjustments and coaching them. They realized they could compete with them.”
