The Madera South Stallions baseball team jumped out to an early 14-1 lead in its Div. IV first round Central Section playoff contest against Selma. However, they had to withstand eight late inning runs to record a 15-10 victory.

The fifth-seeded Stallions, who are the defending Div. IV Central Section champions took advantage of sloppy Selma defense to score runs in every inning. The 12th seeded Bears committed 10 errors that led to nine unearned runs Wednesday evening in Eddie Chapa Field.

Jorge Gutierrez picked up the win for the Stallions. He tossed three innings and allowed a run on two hits with four strikeouts. Victor Palomino tossed two innings and allowed a run on three hits.
