Pedestrian killed by train

Madera Police officers were dispatched to the area of Sharon Boulevard and Ellis Street, regarding a train versus a pedestrian collision Saturday afternoon.

Upon arrival, officers located a 37-year-old male lying between the railroad tracks under the box cars connected to the train. The male suffered major trauma, and succumbed to these injuries sustained from the collision. It is unknown whether drugs or alcohol were a factor.

The area where the collision occurred is considered rural and not improved for pedestrian or vehicular traffic.
