Serving the heart of California since 1892

Obituary: Patricia Louise Rollins

Patricia Louise Rollins.

Lovingly known as Aunt Patty, Grandma, and Mom, Patricia Rollins went to her heavenly home on Thursday, Aug. 30, 2026, at the age of 83. Pat was born on Oct. 6, 1942, in Van Nuys, California, the eleventh of 12 children, to Oscar and Grace Brosi. The family moved to Madera in 1944, and Pat lived the remainder of her life in Madera. She attended Pershing, Lincoln, and John Adams elementary schools, Thomas Jefferson Junior High, and Madera High, graduating in 1961. Her brother introduced his baby sister to his best friend, Don Rollins, and, after falling head over heels in love, they married on Aug. 4, 1962. Pat loved being a wife and was a faithful and loyal partner to Don, her surviving husband of nearly 64 years.

Pat and Don became active members of the Church of the Nazarene, raising their family and becoming rooted and grounded spiritually. The impact of their faith and the influence they had on family, friends, and co-workers cannot be measured. In 2004, they found great blessing in serving God at 4th Street Church of God, where she attended until death.

Pat worked for 22 years as an Instructional Assistant for the Madera County Office of Education, serving the children of Madera Unified with special needs. Her calm demeanor, caring attitude, and nurturing spirit helped many of her students. She helped them navigate the academic, emotional, and psychological traumas they faced, and were able to succeed with her help and encouragement.

After retiring, her life truly revolved around her children and grandchildren, providing babysitting and an after-school “oasis”’ as well as attending sporting events, school functions, and bringing them to church whenever possible. Pat’s life was enriched and filled with joy as she would share all they accomplished. The “apples of her eye” include sons Kerry and wife Fran, Curtis and wife Jill, and daughter Dawnette Sorenson and husband Clay. Mourning the loss of their beloved grandma are Vann Rollins, Seth Rollins and wife Brianna, Adison Rollins, Ally Sorenson, Keira Sorenson, and Brayden Sorenson. Pat also is survived by her sister-in-law Glen Dora who just celebrated her 90th birthday.

Pat loved spending time in God’s Word and was a faithful member of 4th Street’s Fireside Room Bible study. She loved fellowshipping with friends from her days of working in Madera Unified and sharing very special vacation times with her best friends, Alvin and Nancy Stansell.

Pat was preceded in death by her parents, Oscar and Grace Brosi, her six brothers and their wives: Kenneth Brosi (Emma); Marion “Red” Brosil; Oscar Brosi, Jr.; William “Bill” Brosi; Jim Brosi (Nina); and Robert “Bobby” Brosi, and her five sisters, Marjory Veatch (Jerry), Betty Ruby (Al), Norma Rogers (Roger); Joann Aldama (Able); Barbara Sage (Larry).

“Who can find a virtuous and capable wife? She is more precious than rubies. Her husband can trust her and she will greatly enrich his life… she is clothed with strength and dignity… when she speaks, her words are wise, and she gives instructions with kindness…her children stand and bless her… her husband praises her… charm is deceptive and beauty does not last; but a woman who fears the Lord will be greatly praised. “(Proverbs 31)
