Nancy Ann Welch, 81, passed away on Oct. 20, 2023, due to a brain hemorrhage. Born to Claude and Hilda Butler in Orange, CA, Nancy was the last living sibling of her parent’s eight children. She was a lifelong resident of Madera, CA, and finished her health care career at Madera Convalescent Hospital in the early 1990s.

She is survived by her daughter Susan Demasters, along with a large family of nephews, nieces, their children, and their grandchildren.

Nancy took pride in recently becoming a great, great, great aunt. Throughout her years in retirement she especially enjoyed babysitting Laney, Jacob, and Frederick. Nancy lived simply and frugally. She took pleasure in watching CNN, reading People magazine, and tending to her plants and garden. When her mother was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease, Nancy selflessly took care of her for many years. She also cared for her three sisters in their final days, all who died from cancer.

Nancy’s remains will lay to rest at Calvary Cemetery next to her parents and two of her siblings. The family is planning a small celebration of life for her in the coming months.
