Madera Unified School District received a donation of 500 winter coats for underprivileged students at several schools.
Pacific Farm Management made the donation and the first distribution was at Monroe Elementary School on Tuesday.
PFM CEO Mike Alamari is a former student in Madera schools.
“We did it two years ago with Central Unified,” he said. “This year, we decided to do it for Madera Unified. It was good, especially since I went through the Madera schools.”
“Receiving a donation like this means a lot for the families we serve. The percentage of students living below the poverty level in our district is higher than the overall percentage for California. Therefore, donations made to our community go beyond a simple donation – they make a true difference in our families,” said Elia Medina, Director of MUSD Community Services & Parent Resource Centers.
Alamari will next turn his focus on his new building, which is in the beginning stages at the corner of Almond Avenue and Granada Drive. It should be done by mid-2022.
“We’ve had a pretty good year. It’s been a blessing,” he said.
