Mountain crash claims life

A car sits on an embankment after the driver lost control on a curve last week that led to the death of a female passenger.

CHP Madera officers responded to a solo-vehicle traffic crash, at Road 209 south of Road 406. on July 6, just before noon.

A 63-year-old man from Madera was driving a gray 2020 Kia Forte, traveling northbound on Road 209, approaching a curve in the roadway.

For reasons still under investigation, the vehicle veered off the roadway onto the west shoulder and collided with an embankment.

The 63-year-old male suffered minor injuries. An 84-year-old female passenger was also injured, and was transported from the scene to Community Regional Medical Center (CRMC) for medical care.

However, two days later, the 84-year-old female was pronounced deceased at CRMC due to the injuries sustained during the crash.
