Madera Police Department weekend day shift officers have been hard at work throughout the city.
Officer Pineda conducted a traffic stop, and observed the driver throw methamphetamine from the vehicle before pulling over.
The driver, identified as Buddy Cortez, was found to be on felony probation for prior drug-related offenses. Cortez was arrested, and booked into the Madera County Jail on new drug-related charges and a probation violation.
Later in the shift, Officer Ruben Rodriguez conducted a traffic stop, and contacted Gregory Zubia who was also on probation for weapons-related offenses.
A search of his vehicle led to the discovery of multiple individually packaged bags of methamphetamine, along with additional evidence consistent with drug sales.
Zubia was arrested, and booked into the Madera County Jail on drug-related charges.
Meanwhile, Officer Matthew Diaz was proactively patrolling the business district along West Cleveland Avenue when he contacted Constantino Sanchez, who was found to have an active felony warrant.
Sanchez was taken into custody and booked into the Madera County Jail.
“Our officers remain committed to proactive policing and holding offenders accountable,” said the Madera PD in a statement. “Through traffic enforcement, proactive patrols, and everyday police work, we continue working to keep illegal drugs and wanted criminals off the streets of Madera.”
