Madera National advances with win

After suffering a loss to Sunnyside in its second game of the District 10 tournament, the Madera National 8-10-year-old All-Star team bounced back with a 6-3 victory Tuesday over Selma to advance to the semifinals.

Madera National got a good pitching performance from Robert Barajas in relief. He picked up the save after closing out the final 3 2/3 innings. He didn’t allow a hit and struck out five batters.

A.J. Andrade got the win in relief. Starter Jesse Zapata didn’t allow a hit or a run in 1 1/3 innings. As a team, Madera National only allowed one Selma hit, but walked eight batters.
