Long-time officer retires

The Madera Police Department celebrated the career of Officer Lori Alva, who is retiring from the force.

She began her career with MPD on Sept. 5, 2004. Throughout her 21-year career, Officer Alva served with dedication, heart, and a strong commitment to the City of Madera. Her many roles included K9 officer, Crisis Negotiation Team member, Honor Guard, and outreach officer focused on senior citizens and individuals with special needs. In each of these roles, she brought compassion, professionalism, and a personal touch that set her apart.

In true Alva fashion, she introduced Bubbles, the mini horse — a unique and heartwarming symbol of community connection that only she could’ve brought to life.
