Letters: Riverstone/Avenue 12 accident

So sorry for the terrible loss of a life in this accident. A family is grieving not just today, or a few days, but for years. I can not imagine the sadness.

This was bound to happen on this stretch of Avenue 12. It’s not an accident that there is poor Planning here. It’s a result of incompetence and/or greed. How could this development of thousands of homes have only one Signaled Intersection and no left turn lanes going West into the Feeder streets? No left turn lanes!

When it first started, I thought as it grew, the developer would be required to add improvements, more signal lights, making it safer. Waiting for build out? There are a lot of dollars here! Why has this not been made to happen by Madera County? And why was this stretch of Avenue 12 not fully developed as an express way, like most of Herndon Avenue in Fresno and Clovis? The power poles could have, should have, been moved years ago. Waiting for the other side of the street to develop? That could take many years.
