It is the hope of the majority of Americans that we have fair and honest elections that are free of fraud. There are many efforts by our government to ensure that we do indeed have elections that are not compromised in any way. Unfortunately, there are attempts by some to block those efforts.
Despite more than 80 percent of the voters wanting voter ID the Democrats continue to vote against the SAVE act. They are also trying to block efforts to ensure that mail in ballots are being handled correctly. Many Americans have no problem with absentee ballots. However the insistence on using mass mail ballots that go to everyone and anyone and can be returned by anyone are where many Americans have a problem.
I have gone to the polling place every election that I voted in for the last 50 years; all of a sudden we are telling people that it is too difficult to do that; it’s racist and that it’s ok to cast a ballot by mail. When I go to vote, I gladly hand them my ID, state my name and address before getting my ballot.
In the recent primary in California the state has said that there were 150,000 mail in ballots that were rejected for various reasons, with 93,000 of them being rejected as they were received too late. The California legislators in their infinite(?) wisdom tell the people it’s ok if your ballot arrives up to seven days after the election date, just as long as it is postmarked by election day. Then they say it’s going to take up to 30 days to count them all when the majority of states have all theirs counted either on election day or early the next day. They say they do that to ensure that they are counted fairly.
I have my feelings on why they do it, but I’ll keep them to myself.
There were also 44,000 ballots rejected because the signatures didn’t match — 8,300 were rejected because of no signature and almost 1,000 were rejected because the individuals voted more than one time. These are the ones that got caught, which leads me to believe there are many more that slipped through. These numbers are a significant increase in previous elections, I think, because people are more aware of the fraud so they are being more careful.
Many other states are facing the same issues. In Arizona, multiple cases have been exposed where people voted in more than one state. An Arizona voter got charged for voting in two states: Washington and Arizona. She had not lived in Washington for 10 years, didn’t know why she was still on the rolls, and the records showed she had voted in Washington.
The problems in Georgia are well known. A few good examples are an individual falsely registered more than 70 times and numerous individuals were charged with voting using another person’s name. Just recently, it was found in New Jersey that more than 6,600 illegal aliens were registered to vote; many experts claim it was way more than that. Many of them also voted. Virginia also removed more than 6,500 illegals from the voting rolls. Oregon has recently removed more than 800,000 voters — many were deceased or simply moved from the state. They had refused to purge their rolls after 2017.
These are some of the many instances that I found by doing a little research. So we have to ask ourselves, are the Republicans wasting time trying to cure a “nonexistent disease” as a previous writer stated or do we really have problems with our elections?
Some of the amounts of fraud are small, but there have been numerous elections throughout the country that have been decided by a few votes. Would it have made a difference, in 2020, when Biden got 81 million votes by not campaigning, which I and many others question? Probably not. But one instance of fraud is one too much.
Another issue in our elections are the attempts to sway voters into voting their way by using false claims. The Steele Dossier, which was paid for by the Clinton campaign, was an effort to prove that Trump was colluding with Russians to influence the election. It was proven to be a hoax and Hillary is still walking free. Another issue is the Hunter Biden laptop.
The validity of it was reported and then it was suppressed by media and social media sources. The Dems even got 51 experts to write a letter claiming it did not exist. Well, guess what? The truth was exposed after the election and there were many polls stating that a percentage of Biden voters would have voted differently if they had only known the truth.
We do have a good election system, but as I have stated, it is far from perfect. The efforts to block all attempts to make them more secure are a slap in the face to Americans.
