By the numbers, the Liberty Hawks should have recorded a victory Friday over the Fowler Redcats.
Instead, the Redcats scored two touchdowns in 53 seconds near the end of the first half, to hold onto a 27-17 victory over the Hawks. Fowler scored touchdowns on four straight drives, but punted on three-and-outs on their other four drives.
Liberty earned more first downs than the Redcats (22-13), rushed for more yards (192-181), passed for more yards (133-75) and held Fowler to zero third down conversions. However, the Hawks couldn’t score in their final three drives of the game.
