The Madera Coyotes softball team entered its regular season finale with a County/Metro Athletic Conference co-championship secured, but coach Judy Shaubach wanted it all in her final regular season game.
Shaubach, after 38 seasons and 780 wins (as of Thursday’s win), announced she was retiring after this season. The Coyotes scored 10 runs in the fourth and fifth innings to secure a 12-2 mercy rule victory over the Edison Tigers.
The win finished the Coyotes’ CMAC schedule with a 7-1 record for the outright CMAC title after Madera defeated Bullard, 6-4, earlier in the week.
