The Madera Coyotes football team was on a roll after two straight wins, but then the bye week happened and the rust showed in its County/Metro Athletic Conference opener against Bullard.
The high-powered Madera offense was limited to just 264 yards. The Coyotes’ defense held the Bullard Knights to just 213 yards rushing, but the Knights scored late for a 7-6 victory Friday in Memorial Stadium.
Quarterback Joel Arellano had trouble connecting with his receivers and was just 12-of-22 for 138 yards and didn’t’ have a touchdown. He was also sacked five times in the loss.
