The Madera Coyotes outdistanced the rest of the teams and came away with a one stroke victory to capture the school’s first girls golf Central Section championship.

The Coyotes finished with an overall score o 524 to edge Wasco, who scored a 525, and Lompoc, who scored 527. El Diamante placed fourth, but was only nine strokes back at Lemoore Golf Course on Monday.

“The girls had a long up-anddown season, but put it all together the last three weeks,” head coach Gary Moran said. “The team’s scores lowered each week going into playoffs, and continued at the Championship by shooting one of the best 18-hole team scores all year long.”
