CHP investigating fatal crash

Investigators from the California Highway Patrol’s Central Division Multi-Disciplinary Accident Investigation Team (MAIT) are trying to determine the cause of a two-vehicle crash that took place on Avenue 7, west of Road 22 in Madera County.

Eight people were killed, and one other was transported by ambulance to a local hospital with major injuries as a result of the Friday accident.

At 6:17 a.m. Friday, CHP officers from the Madera Area office were dispatched to accident scene. Upon arrival, officers determined a Chevrolet Silverado, and a GMC Safari were involved in a head-on crash on Avenue 7, west of Road 22.
