Chowchilla Police respond to domestic abuse

Chowchilla Police Officers were dispatched to the 2100 block of Kennedy Ct. for a report of a domestic dispute.

While investigating the incident on October 7 just before midnight, it was determined that suspect, Robert Glenn Hernandez, was in his residence, possibly armed with a weapon, and was refusing to come out.

Patrol officers set up a safety perimeter around the residence and conducted a surround and call out to make contact with Hernandez. After several minutes of attempting to get Hernandez to come outside and speak with officers, a line of communication was made with him and officers learned that he had barricaded himself inside the residence and he had possible hostages inside.

The MCR SWAT Team arrived on scene and took over the incident. A short time later, two subjects exited the residence and were taken to safety; however, Hernandez refused to exit.

After continuous negotiations and attempts for Hernandez to exit the residence, chemical agents were utilized by the SWAT team to get him to surrender without injury or further incident. Hernandez was arrested on various charges.
