Chop shop investigation leads to arrest

While patrolling the 1400 block of Sharon Boulevard on Friday, Officer Jose Barajas located a box truck that had been reported stolen the previous day.

The investigation led officers to a nearby residence, where they contacted Juan Pozos, 34, who was believed to be involved in the vehicle theft.

Officers obtained a search warrant for the residence.

During the search, officers discovered evidence of an active chop shop. Investigators located an additional stolen vehicle that was in the process of being dismantled.

Pozos was arrested, and booked into the Madera County Jail on charges of operating a chop shop and offenses related to auto theft.

The Madera Police Department remains committed to protecting our community and holding those who engage in criminal activity accountable. We appreciate the continued support of our community in helping keep Madera safe.
