Local members of Madera law enforcement agencies received awards from the Madera Action Committee for their dedication to helping the family and victims of crimes. The Community Action Partnership of Madera County (CAPMC) honored four individuals during National Crime Victims’ Right Week.

Madera Police Detective Dina Santos, Madera County Senior Deputy District Attorney Nick Karp, Madera County District Attorney Investigator Yvette Taylor and Child Forensic Interviewer Sandra Avalos were honored by CAPMC during a ceremony on April 11 during the Victims Memorial Display at CAPMC.

Since 1981, National Crime Victims’ Rights Week is celebrated every year in April. This week is dedicated to bringing awareness and to educate communities on the impact of crime. To promote laws, policies, and programs to help victims recover as best as they can. This year’s theme is “Kinship, Connecting and Healing.”
