Capitol rioter traced back to Madera

The Federal Bureau of Investigation was spotted in Madera on Friday afternoon to execute a search warrant.

Eddie Block, a Madera native and self-proclaimed Proud Boy, was seen on numerous videos at the Capitol insurrection on Jan. 6, 2021 in Washington, D.C.

Block recorded himself at the violent event.

FBI officials were seen moving in and out of Block’s residence on East Cleveland Avenue. Block ran for Madera County Supervisor in 2020 before a run-in with the law.

Block was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence. According to law enforcement personnel on the scene, Block collided with a home in his car.

The Madera Tribune spoke with Madera County Sheriff Tyson Pogue and although his department has no involvement in the case, Pogue explained that local and federal law enforcement work together often.

The Madera Tribune will update this story as it develops.
