Capital Improvement Plan discussed by council

At last week’s regular Madera City Council meeting, members listened to the second part of the Capital Improvement Plan (CIP) workshop, continued from May 16.

The capital improvement plan is a multi-year planning agenda used to identify project priorities and financing for improvements within the community. Public comment is received year round in the public works, transit, engineering and parks departments. The CIP is adopted at the same time as the city budget and is subject to change according to council prioritization and available funding. The workshop discussed various improvements as well as funding resources for the fire, parks, water and public works departments.

With many projects already underway, the various departments gave status updates of each department’s progress, as well as informed the council about developments regarding new ones, giving brief descriptions of what the project entails, a general timeline, and information regarding funding for each undertaking.
