MADERA COUNTY — Caltrans broke ground on a project to replace three aging bridges on State Route 99 in Madera County.

The $36.8 million project was made possible by $26 million in funding from the federal Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA) of 2021 and $10 million in funding from Senate Bill (SB) 1, the Road Repair and Accountability Act of 2017.

During Thursday’s event, Caltrans unveiled new “Rebuilding CA” highway signs that will be installed for future infrastructure projects funded by the IIJA and state investments.
