Bass lake will see higher sewer rates

The nearly 1,200 residents of Bass Lake will notice an increase in their sewage rate starting this month.

In a resolution to increase the rate of County service area 2 Bass Lake zones A and B, Tuesday at their regular meeting, the Madera County Board of Supervisors listened to a presentation given by the Deputy Director of Public Works, Andrea Saldati with administration analyst Heather Lara and Eric Helgenson, a consultant from Bartow Wells.

In the presentation, Saldati informed the board of the financial gap between the current rate and the actual cost of service. The cost-of-service calculation includes expenses such as labor, energy, chemicals and other supplies, and the cost of providing required maintenance of the system. At the current rate the district is unable to maintain or replace the capital assets as needed for the district.
