Some 400 people crowded into the annual Madera Soroptimists crab feed fundraiser Saturday night, at Hatfield Hall on the Madera District Fairgrounds, where they not only ate crab, but also wrapped themselves around green salad, pasta with sauce and garlic bread. Profits from ticket sales at $50 per ticket raised money for Soroptimist scholarships, as did profits from sales of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks.

The Soroptimist crab feed traditionally is the first big social occasion of the year in the city.

Coming up: Another charity fundraiser, the Sunrise Rotary shrimp feed, set for April 7. For more information about that event, call Bob Bitter, 270-6094.
