Councilman seeks 2nd term
Madera City Councilman Will Oliver of District 3 raises his hand to swear after signing paperwork to run for a second term Wednesday as his uncle Steve Copeland, of Seabury, Copeland & Anderson Insurance, and his mother Chris Oliver stand by while family and friends watch.
“I’m going to continue to face challenges head on and provide solutions to move Madera forward,” said Oliver, 31.
In a public statement, he noted the council has added 14 new police personnel, new solar street lights in District 3, and new incentives to entice business investment. It also has begun reinvesting in downtown and is building the city’s third fire station.
“We have prudently built up our general fund reserve to over $13.5 million to withstand future emergencies, and have wisely invested in our most important asset, our water infrastructure, putting us on track to add over 6 million gallons of new storage to ensure a safe and stable water supply for the future.”
