After running through Div. V to win the Central Section championship last year, Matilda Torres Toros girls soccer head coach Marco Gomez decided up his team’s game.
One of those ways is to schedule tougher opponents, like Tuesday’s match with Div. II Hanford. The Div. IV Toros (moved up from Div. V lasts season) took the first lead, but fell to two second half goals in a non-conference match at the Toros Stadium.
Emma Velasquez scored a first half goal, but the Bullpups scored the game-winner with about 15 minutes left to hold onto the 2-1 victory.
