The Madera South Stallions softball team seemed to have put the game away with seven runs in the top of the fourth inning, but the Toros stayed in the game with a seven-run inning of its own. However, the Stallions held off the Toros for a 17-11 victory in North Yosemite League play.
The Toros outhit the Stallions in Tuesday’s home game, despite playing at Madera South because the Torres softball field is impacted by the construction of the school’s football stadium. However, 13 Toros errors helped lead to nine unearned runs.
“I love this team because they know we that we are building and growing every single day,” Toros head coach Aurelia Gamch said. “I tell them it’s a productive day if we get better. That’s been our mindset going in. They know that and know they have to fight to the end to give themselves an opportunity.”
