The Sanger Apaches jumped out to a 34-9 halftime lead and cruised to a 58-20 victory over the Madera South Stallions girls basketball team in the West Gym.
Madera South was held under double digits in points until the final minute of the third quarter.
Sanger took advantage of 32 turnovers in the first three quarters. The Apaches had two players score in double figures while the Stallions only had one player score more than four points.
Madera South’s bright spot was freshman Jocelyn Berrera, who led the team with eight points to go with nine rebounds.
The other bright spot came during the running-clock fourth quarter. The Stallions held the Apaches scoreless while scoring nine points.
The Stallions forced five turnovers while only committing two.
Berrera made a layup with 37 seconds left to get the Stallions into double-digits.
She then hit back-to-back 15-foot jumpers to highlight the fourth quarter.
The Apaches scored 19 points in the first quarter and held the Stallions scoreless for the first five minutes while scoring the first 14 points of the game.
The Apaches kept the onslaught going by outscoring the Stallions 15-5 in the third and 24-2 in the third quarter to cruise to the victory.
