Softball standard bearers earn second HOF induction

As would be the case, the 1989 Central Section championship Madera Coyote softball team will become the first team to be inducted into the Madera Coyote Softball Hall of Fame.

The team will earn induction with players Jennifer (Parker) Moran, Vanessa (Salinas) Tua’au and Jocelynn Medina at the January 31 dinner.

That team defeated Mt. Whitney, 1-0, in Visalia’s Plaza Park for the title game after Alyson Crafton tomahawked an inside-the-park (there were no fences at the park) home run for the only score of the game. The win gave the Coyotes an astounding 33-1 season record, a record that may never be equaled.
