Reported gun prompts lockdown

Madera County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a report that a student at Coarsegold Elementary School brought a firearm in his backpack to school Tuesday morning.

The reported gun was a starter pistol that was not loaded. Initial information indicated the student inadvertently brought the item to school. When he realized it was in his bag, he notified his teacher.

Madera County Sheriff’s Deputies were notified, and the school was placed on lockdown as a procedural precaution.
