For six innings, the Madera Coyotes softball team went toe-to-toe with one of the best teams in Div. II. However, it was the one bad inning that led to a 7-0 defeat at Zimmerman Field.
In what may be the final game at Zimmerman Field before the Coyotes move into its palacial softball stadium this week, the Coyotes allowed seven runs in the fifth inning last Thursday for their first loss of the season.
“We played six great innings,” head coach Judy Shaubach said. “We played the first four very, very well. We lost focus on the No. 9 batter, again. Our pitching staff cannot walk No. 9 to get to the top of the order.”
