Madera Unified School District has received national recognition from the Alliance for a Healthier Generation for its outstanding commitment to student health and wellness.
Every elementary, middle, and high school in the district earned Healthy Schools Awards in three or more categories for the 2025 school year.
In a milestone achievement, Matilda Torres High School made district history by being honored in all nine award categories, becoming the first Madera Unified campus to do so. Torres, is also one of only three schools across Central Valley counties and the only one in Madera County, to achieve this distinction. The other two schools are located in Kern County.
