Visitors were treated to the smells and tastes of barbecue at Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church.

The church hosted its second annual rib cook off May 27.

Onlookers and cooks covered the front lawn of the church as each chef fired up their own grill or smoker, applying their own unique sauce and rub recipes, in hopes of winning top honors this year. Those who entered the competition for $50 were eligible to win various prizes, such as aprons and assorted items, while knowing they’re helping sponsor future youth group trips and events. Members of the youth group served at the barbecue.
