The Madera County Sheriff’s Office has released a statement about its K-9 Obie, who was shot by a shotgun-wielding suspect last week.
“We are happy to share the news that Obie has been released from the hospital and taken home,” the sheriff’s office said. “We would like to thank the community for their outpouring of support and well wishes for Obie and our department during this time. Obie’s remarkable story has had a huge impact on all of us.
“As he begins his long road to healing, we ask for your continued thoughts as well as privacy for him and his family,” the department added. “We remain indebted to him for his selfless act of bravery and wish him well on his road to recovery.”
