Michoacan runner Eduardo Herrera, a Madera South graduate, continues to make history in national athletics by setting a new Mexican record in the 5,000 meters in the short track, after registering a time of 13:06:36 in the 2025 John Thomas Terrier Classic, held in Boston on February 1.

Herrera, who already held the Mexican record with a 13:11.75, set on December 3, 2022 on the same track, managed to reduce his own mark by more than five seconds.

His outstanding performance at this event reaffirms his position as one of the best Mexican runners and reinforces his aspirations towards future international competitions.
