Early Saturday morning, Madera Police Department Corporal Jeremy Smith and Officer Ovedo attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a red Chevrolet Camaro near Lake and 5th streets when the driver fled at a high rate of speed.
After a brief period, the pursuit was terminated due to the reckless driving by the suspect. A short time later, the vehicle was located near Cleveland and Nebraska avenues.
A traffic stop was conducted, and the driver was contacted. During the contact, it was obvious the driver was under the influence of alcohol. He was identified as 24-year-old, Jefferey Cuevas.
