The Madera National Little League Senior (16-under) softball team won the NorCal Championship last weekend behind a no-hitter thrown by Dallas Chavira.
The Madera National All-Stars opened the tournament with a 12-2 victory over Foothill on July 10 with a 6 p.m. game. They came back at 9 a.m. the next morning, and defeated Suisun, 7-0, to advance to the semifinals.
With the second game of a back-to-back, Madera National defeated Colusa, 15-4 to advance to the championship game two days later.
After waiting through the consolation bracket games on Sunday, Madera National closed the tournament with a dominant 13-0 victory over Colusa on Monday They defeated their opponents by a combined 47-6 in the tournament.
The victory is Madera National’s first-ever softball State Championship. They are also the first-ever Madera National team (baseball or softball) to win the state title.
They now head the Montana for the West Regionals in Missoula, beginning July 23.
Madera National will host a car wash on Sunday from 8 a.m.-2 p.m. at Shoettler Tire. Every dollar helps get the team to Montana to represent the community at Regionals.
