Madera American gets split at state

The Madera American Little League 12-year-old All-Stars opened the NorCal State Tournament with a tough loss to the Section 4 champions from the Tri-City Little League out of Rocklin.

However, in the loser’s bracket of the double-elimination tournament, Madera, the Section 7 champions, came from behind to defeat Almaden of Section 5 on Sunday.

Madera found itself trailing 4-1 entering the fourth inning. They scored two runs to cut the deficit to one.

Madera battled back wih two more runs in the fifth inning to take a 5-4 lead.

Almaden tried to battle back, but Madera American held on for the win and advance to Monday with a 7:30 p.m. game.

Since Madera went into the loser’s bracket right away, they have a game every day until Friday until they get their second loss.

Madera opened the tournament with an 8-3 loss to Tri-City on Saturday.
