On July 1, 2024, the Supreme Court of the United States (SCOTUS) gave aid and comfort to the suicide of our republic when it gutted our Constitution and gave presidents Immunity for violating the law.
The Constitution states, “The President… shall be removed from Office on Impeachment for, and Conviction of Treason, Bribery, or other high Crimes and Misdemeanors.” It further states that all crimes, except in cases of impeachment, shall be tried by jury. The Constitution requires a conviction for treason to be based upon the testimony of at least two witnesses or a confession in open court.
Therefore, while a president may be tried by Congress and removed from office, that is merely a civil penalty. The law clearly requires criminal violations to be tried by a jury in a court of law.
