Last week’s rain not enough

While many Madera residents were rushing for cover during last week’s rains, many farmers were hoping for more rainy days.

“December and January were dry,” said Creekside Farming President and member of the Madera County Farm Bureau Board Jay Mahil. “February had floodgates open a little but, but it closed. The next couple of weeks, it’s supposed to be clear. That doesn’t help.”

Mahil said last week’s rain brought an inch-and-a quarter, and it happened just as almonds came into bloom.
