Johnny Cash tribute band to play during Concerts in the Park

Songs of the late, great “Man in Black” will fill the air in downtown Chowchilla as The Only Johnny Cash Tribute Band plays at the Barragan Family Performance Stage on Thursday.

“I love Johnny Cash,” said lead Danny Millsap, who saw the performer live at a Fresno concert in 1990. “I have always been a fan of his style of country music and the mystery he brought to the stage, and after seeing him in concert I was hooked.”

After Cash died in 2003, Millsap was determined to keep the music alive, and remains committed to that ideal today. “No matter where we go, it is an honor to recreate the style, mystery and music of the legendary Johnny Cash. We promise to be true to the Cash sound and make Johnny proud.”

The free concert starts at 7:30 p.m. in Veterans Memorial Park, on Robertson Boulevard at 6th Street in downtown Chowchilla. Be sure to bring folding chairs, advised Marty Piepenbrok of the City of Chowchilla staff.

Music in the Park concerts continue through July with the next show on July 19, that features the lively fun sounds of the Hillbilly Jazz Band.

The “Music in the Park” concert series is presented by the City of Chowchilla along with major sponsors PG&E, the Madera County Arts Council, Johnson Controls, Inc., and Yamabe & Horn Engineering, Inc., along with Dianne and David Rich, all who actively support the season of community events.
