Inmates donate to animal shelter group

Inmates at Central California Women’s Facility in Chowchilla chose to donate a portion of their last fundraiser to the Friends of Madera Animal Shelter — a non-profit in Madera County run by dedicated volunteers working tirelessly to support the education of responsible pet ownership. Through donations, they spay and neuter pets in the community, which reduces the number of animals euthanized. They are sworn to saving animals in crisis, working with rescue partners, they find qualified and loving forever homes through adoption events. FMAS sends an estimated 2,000 animals a year to rescue.

The check, totaling $1,056.34, was presented by CCWF Community Resources Manager Courtney Waybright.

“The inmates at CCWF have an absolute love and passion for helping animals. When they told me they would like to donate a portion of their fundraiser money to help an animal shelter, I went and researched where we could help locally within our county. I then came across FMAS and knew this was the right recipient for our donation” Waybright said.
