Madera Community Hospital has won an “A” grade in patient safety from a national hospital ranking organization.
The safety grade assigns letter grades of A, B, C, D and F to hospitals based on their performance in preventing medical errors, infections and other harmful occurrences.
Madera Community Hospital was one of 832 awarded an A, in the U.S., for its commitment to keeping patients safe and meeting the highest safety standards.
“The Leapfrog A grade is evidence of the nationally ranked safety and quality of healthcare our patients deserve and receive when choosing Madera Community Hospital,” said Evan J. Rayner, Madera Community Hospital’s chief executive officer.
“While this is the first A in our health system history, it is a significant milestone and demonstrates our multi-disciplinary team’s relentless focus on safe patient centered care and nationally ranked outcomes,” Rayner said.
Developed under the guidance of a blue ribbon national expert panel, the Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade system uses 27 measures of publicly available hospital safety data to assign grades to more than 2,600 U.S. hospitals twice a year. It is calculated by top patient safety experts, peer reviewed, and is fully transparent and free to the public.
