Chowchilla quarterback Davian Stephenson showed why he is one of the best players in the Central Section by leading the Chowchilla Tribe to a 63-42 victory over the Liberty Hawks football team in Henry Massaro Stadium.
Stephenson rushed for a career-high 242 yards and scored four touchdowns on the ground and threw for two more. He accounted for 367 yards of Chowchilla’s 604 yards o total offense. The victory over the Hawks also gave the Tribe the outright Northwest Sequoia Conference crown.
However, it was not easy for the Tribe. The Hawks made it a game with a couple of early scores, and had a chance to tie the game or take the lead on more than one occasion.
