Facility will expand agricultural program at Madera Center
Ground was broken Tuesday for a new facility for agriculture and technology at Madera Community College Center.
The facility will expand the current agriculture and manufacturing programs that are offered at the college. Welding, plant science and apprenticeship programs will be added.
In addition to the classrooms and lab space, the new ag center will include instructor offices, counseling and embedded tutoring.
It will be the first facility to be constructed with Measure C funds.
In June 2016, State Center Community College District passed Measure C, a $485 million facilities bond that will develop new and improved facilities at Fresno City College, Reedley College, Clovis Community College, Madera and Oakhurst Community College Centers and the Career and Technology Center.
Madera Community College Center serves more than 5,000 students and sits on 114.2 acres of land.
The Center for Agriculture and Technology is sited next to the Center for Advanced Manufacturing in the northeast corner of the campus.
BMY Construction Inc. expects to complete the structure in time to hold classes in spring 2020.
