The Coyotes opened the tournament with a solid 3-1 victory over Bakersfield Christian. Viviana Nombrano struck out nine in five innings for the win.

In the second game Friday, the Coyotes exploded for six runs in the third for a 9-0 victory over Tehachapi. The Coyotes drew six walks and banged out nine hits in the win.
