County launches Real Property Notification Program

Notices will alert property owners to potential real estate fraud

Madera County Clerk-Recorder Rebecca Martinez announced that beginning May 15, Madera County property owners will receive an official notification by mail when a document affecting property ownership has been recorded.

Real estate fraud is a problem throughout the State and homeowners are being advised to be on the lookout for potential criminal activity.

“We have received a number of calls from property owners who are concerned about the risk of becoming victims of real estate fraud,” Martinez said. “The courtesy notification is sent after a document has recorded, alerting property owners to potentially nefarious activity and giving law enforcement an opportunity to apprehend these criminals.”
