Council recognizes museums 50th, shows support for future agave

During the most recent Madera City Council meeting, council members wrapped up public hearings for the Measure T expenditure plan and received an informational presentation from President of Madera Community College regarding the vision for an Agave distillation program.

The City Council also recognized the 50th anniversary of the Madera County museum in a proclamation presented by the mayor during the meeting on September 4. Dennis Hart was on hand to receive the proclamation, on behalf of the Madera County Historical Society, along with its President Sheryl Berry.

The Madera County Museum opened to the public nearly 50 years ago on September 28, 1974, where it started with just 10 rooms. Now, a half a century later, the museum encompasses 23 rooms across three floors of the old courthouse building.
